I'm Devyn — a Cybersecurity student and a Technology Support Specialist at CP Energy, an oil and gas company in Oklahoma. I'm passionate about homelabbing, pentesting, SIEM/EDR monitoring and response, and network security. Along the way I've picked up a solid foundation in Linux, macOS, and Windows.

The lab is one HP ProDesk 800 Mini running Proxmox — two VMs and a container for basically everything: 23 Docker services on the main host, Home Assistant on the other. A dedicated Wazuh SIEM VM used to run alongside them; I retired it 2026-09-29, and its NVMe now holds the media library. Nothing on it has a port forwarded on my router; if something's reachable from outside, it's through a Cloudflare Tunnel or Tailscale.

A lot of the code in this lab was written by Claude with me directing it, and I'd rather say so than let anyone assume otherwise. I decide what gets made, direct it, and I'm the one holding it when the screen is blank and nothing works. Debugging is where the learning actually happens, and knowing enough to tell when an answer is wrong is the skill I care about most.

It started as curiosity and got out of hand — long nights, 3am rabbit holes over DNS that wouldn't resolve, plenty of "why is everything broken." It's also taught me more about networking, security, and real-world IT than any classroom has, and I use it every day at work. If something's broken, I'll figure it out. That's kind of the whole point.
