The target is WCAG 2.2 level AA. Where the site falls short, the gaps are listed below.
What's in place
- Contrast is measured for every colour token against every background it sits on, and the ratios are written into the stylesheet. Text is at least 4.5:1, and borders and status marks are at least 3:1.
- Everything works from the keyboard. There's a skip link, a visible focus ring on every control, and the ⌘K palette traps focus while it's open and returns it when it closes.
- Motion stops if your system asks for reduced motion. The “motion” key in the header pauses all animation on any device, and it remembers the setting.
- No content appears only on hover, and nothing moves under the pointer.
- Status is never shown by colour alone. Every status mark has its word beside it.
Known limitations
- The interactive lab map is a wide diagram. On narrow screens it scrolls sideways instead of reflowing.
- Some live panels are dense with figures and machine names, and they can be heavy going with a screen reader.
